The Green Line Bioplastic Chicken Drinker is made from natural, non-oil based material such as sugar cane and beet and is coloured with natural dyes. The Green Line range is 100% recyclable and designed to be sturdy and super easy to clean and fill thanks to the bayonet fitting. Bioplastic is as tough as plastic, and feels just like plastic, but is 100% recyclable and the CO2 absorbed during the plant growth is locked in.
To fill the chicken drinker, simply twist the base off, turn the white dome upside down and fill with water, twist-lock the base onto it, and turn it the right way up allowing the water to trickle out into the saucer. The vacuum created in the water tank means the water level will always remain the same (just above the outlet hole) in the saucer, until the hens drink some, and then it will replenish until it reaches the right level again.
The Greenline chicken drinker comes with four push fit legs so it can be raise off the ground and help keep the water free from debris, also has a moulded hole on top so can be hung if you prefer.
Bioplastic starts in the form of sugar cane. Specifically, waste sugar cane, created from the leftovers of sugar cane extraction.
From sugar cane waste a polymer is created that’s bio-based rather than oil-based. These sugar cane bio-based polymers are also 100% recyclable, which is far better than being bio-degradable. Bio-degradable plastics cannot be recycled, so the fossil fuels used to create them are lost, however bio-based polymers can be recyclable and therefore the fossil fuels within them are also reused.
It’s also worth noting that sugar cane polymers are a renewable resource and don’t deplete fossil fuels, unlike their oil-based counterparts, which is of enormous environmental benefit.
